Please consider supporting invisible art this AusArt Day, Thursday 22 October 2026
invisible art space is an artist-run gallery in Balmain (near White Bay) featuring immaterial, digital, experimental arts and ecologies
We try to feature as much immaterial // media art // video art as we can, at a time when sadly many of our predecessors have closed
Any support is greatly appreciated and will help keep the gallery running and support new shows
We know it’s a tough time at the moment – if you cannot donate, perhaps your employer has a donation program and could make a tax deductable donation on your behalf
thank you!

A look at the first year and a half
invisible art space (ias) opened in June 2025. Between June 2025 – December 2026:
- we’ve held 13 exhibitions (11 at Balmain + 2 at other events’ locations)
- hosted 9 [In]Visible Synth Sessions -> live & streamed synth music jams
- hosted 1 film screening day
- the ias exhibitions were a mix of curated group shows, solo shows, residencies + associated exhibitions, art fair & arts trail shows, film screenings, live improv music performances
- ias featured artists from various locations: UK/USA, New Zealand, Sydney (Inner West & Western Suburbs), NSW regional areas: Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands and the Central Coast, USA / AR (augmented reality) + in Second Life virtual world, Melbourne, Brisbane
- shown a variety of works, methods, materialities & themes to showcase works on screen & works on paper, the conversations between the various themes plus the numerous ways digital / immaterial art can be brought into the material / physical world: digital / immaterial works on screen, video installations, living sculpture, installation, digital projection, screen printing, digital prints, photographic techniques, hand-programmed code based works, plotter prints, paintings, textiles, video based works, virtual worlds, augmented reality & collage works
- created documentation for exhibitions and also reading lists for the shows
we have many exciting shows planned for 2027!
